Yuvan , Selva Split

Selvaraghavan and Yuvanshankar Raja have been one of Tamil cinema’s successful director-composer combinations. All their collaborations, right from Thulluvatho Ilamai till the recent Yaaradi Nee Mohini (for which Selva has written the script), have been hits. Musically too, their albums have been trend-setters.

Now, the duo have split due to certain differences of opinion. Yes, Yuvan will not be the composer for Selva’s Aayirathil Oruvan, which is currently in the making. Aayirathil Oruvan stars Karthi, Reema Sen and Andrea in the lead roles. Actor-director Parthiban plays a crucial character in the film.

Yuvan was initially announced as the composer for the film. But now, Selva has replaced him with the upcoming G.V. Prakash Kumar. While GVP seems to be a perfect replacement, it is indeed sad that the successful duo has split. It is unfortunate that this is the second major split in his life (the first being his recent divorce from wife Sujaya, citing mutual incompatibility as the reason).
